NYT Picks it up

I think many were wondering yesterday when the NY Times would pick up the story on the indictments of TN state senators and others. Well, they have. And frankly, there’s not much in the way of bias in this article. I suppose it’s hard to spin a federal sting operation unless one plays the race card, but have no fear: it shall come soon. Anyhow, this is how the Times begins describing John Ford:

The sight of the usually dapper John Ford walking into a federal courtroom in Memphis without a necktie and in handcuffs was only the latest turn in a long, colorful career.

…and it only gets worse from there. How does one shoot at someone through his sunroof and manage to remain an elected official? Only in Memphis…

Speaking of, word on the street in Memphis is that the feds may have their eye on our own regional Slick Willie. (But click on that link, and the story in the Nashville Business Journal says nothing about Herenton.)

there’s not much bias in that article because it is written by memphian. the guy’s a writer for the flyer and just had a kid graduate from white station HS…suffice it to say he is a city homer, if at least a well spoken one. the NBJ had a paragraph in a story posted yesterday morning that mentioned herenton among the arrested, but later in the day that same story had been update, sans herenton paragraph.

additionally, it could be noted that we traded one regional slick willie to a promotion and just trotted off the the five and dime for his replacement.
