I got tired of using the somewhat lackluster search function within the forum some time ago, and I’ve been getting much better results using Google to search that site specifically. But it would be nice to have a Firefox/IE7 search plugin to allow me to search straight from the browser, non? Good thing I made one.

Hi Kev,
sorry to bother you but I have a question about this Mac/ensemble/MAudio lightbridge- configuration. I already have a mac and ensemble and just ordered PTMP/M-Audio lightbridge. But I have no idea how this optical ADAT works. Do I connect the ADAT-out of the ensemble to the ADAT-in from the Profire end vice-versa? and then use the ensemble as word clock master and use Maestro to route audio-signals from ensemble to DAW?
thanks in advance, Anne
(btw, great Gearslutz search plug!)

Yes, that’s exactly how you’re gonna set it up! Signal flow with optical ADAT is the same as you’d expect, only there’s 8 channels running through it. And yes, you want to set the ensemble as the master clock, and set the lightbridge to accept wordclock from the ensemble (make this change from the m-audio control panel software). The hardest thing you’ll encounter is figuring out the routing inside the maestro control panel. What you’re basically setting up is the ability to use the ensemble as a stand-alone converter box. I had to email apogee to have them help, and here’s the email I received:
